Google’s Project Jacquard Levi’s Commuter Trucker Jacket has been made available in the United States via select stores. You can also buy it online starting October 2 via Levi’s online store. The smart jacket is priced at $350.
As most of you already know, the Levi’s Commuter Trucker Jacket with Google’s Project Jacquard is a smart jacket that lets you interact with your phone using a specific set of touch and gesture interactivity woven into the sleeve. You can control the music, navigate through the city, and even stay connected to your friends and family by tapping, swiping on jacket’s sleeve.
It’s a great product for bike riders or bicyclist allowing them to interact with their phone without even touching it. The sleeve cuff is made of special Jacquard fabric that synchronizes with users’ smartphone activating a limited set of commands.
The set of commands include controlling music, handling calls and texts, and navigate, well, what else you want. It reads you the text messages you receive and also the name of the sender and in case of incoming calls, you can send them directly to your voicemail to listen to them later. You can play, pause, or switch between songs and also “get upcoming turn reminders or the ETA to your destination all while keeping your eyes on the road ahead.”

You can wash the denim jacket without any worries, just remove the snap tag. “It’s a jacket. Like any regular denim jacket, you can wash it, it’s durable, designed to be comfortable for cycling and it’ll keep you warm on and off the bike,” said Ivan Poupyrev, Google Engineer.
Project Jacquard by Google was launched more than two years ago at Google’s annual developer conference where the company also announced Levi’s as its first partner. With Jacquard, Google wants to transform clothing by integrating technology into it.

With a literal brush of your cuff, you can navigate your life while living it,” explains Google.
You can buy the Levi’s Commuter Trucker Jacket with Jacquard by Google at select retail outlets located in the United States from September 27. These are the retailers (click on the name of the retailer to locate it on Google Maps)- Fred Segal, Concepts, and Kinfolk.
