Epic fantasy TV series Game of Thrones fans have to wait longer than usual for the eighth and final season as HBO has officially announced that the show will continue where it left off in 2019. The television network has not revealed the exact air date.

According to the blog published on HBO’s website, Season 8 of Game of Thrones will contain six episodes. The blog also mentions names of writers, producers, and directors for the new season. There are no further details regarding next season’s characters, plot, or trailer.

Some of the episodes from Season 8 of Game of Thrones will be of longer duration. David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, David Nutter, and Miguel Sapochnik are the directors for Season 8. Writers for the new season are David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, Bryan Cogman, and Dave Hill.

Season 8 of GoT will take its viewers to the conclusion of the story where they finally know who will sit on the Iron Throne and who is going to live after the massive war between the white walkers and armies of Westeros? Season 8 will answer a whole lot of questions that are in our mind since the show kicked off in 2011. Season 7 answered many questions and took the story forward revealing Jon Snow’s parents and ended with white walkers breaking the wall.

The showrunners are taking a year off to make the final season as spectacular and satisfying as possible. The season is currently in production and filming. This year HBO will be focussing more on Emmy Awards 2018 and its show Westworld which is returning this year after a long break since 2016.

Show’s producer and the author of the book (A Song of Ice and Fire) the series is based on, George R.R. Martin, revealed five prequels to Game of Thrones that are in development. Martin also announced The Winds of Winter, the next book in his “A Song of Ice and Fire” series last year which could be released this year.

Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo), the former GoT actor told EW that season 8 of Game of Thrones “is going to be the greatest thing that’s ever aired on TV. It is going to be unbelievable.” It’s all getting us excited for the final season and the bad thing is that we have to wait more than a year for season 8’s premiere. Hope everything Momoa said is true!
