North Korea has ordered a 5-day lockdown in its capital Pyongyang due to rising cases of an specified respiratory illness.
A notice has been issued by the North Korean government which says residents were required to stay in their homes until the end of Sunday and submit to multiple temperature checks every day.
The notice did not mentioned ‘Covid-19‘ specifically, but some respiratory illness spreading in the capital include the common cold.
Seoul-based news outlet which monitors North Korea noticed, on Tuesday that Pyongyang residents were appeared to be stocking up on goods in anticipation of stricter measures.
It is known as the most secretive country and did not even disclosed the exact number of Covid cases as it never confirmed how many people caught COVID. North Korea acknowledged its first COVID-19 outbreak last year.
State media has continued to report on anti-pandemic measures to battle respiratory diseases, including the flu, but has yet to report the lockdown order.
