Varanasi to Host Three-Day G20 Event from Monday

Varanasi is preparing to host a three-day G20 event starting on Monday. The meeting will involve representatives from 20 prominent countries and delegates from other partner countries who will participate in the Agriculture Working Group’s meeting from April 17 to 19.

As per an official statement, the three-day G20 event in Varanasi aims to spread a message promoting nutritious foods, food security, and eco-friendly farming practices to ensure the health of the entire world.

India, with the motto of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” is hosting the G20 Presidency this year. Varanasi will serve as the venue for six G20 meetings as part of this initiative.

The G20 summit in Varanasi will commence on Monday with the opening of MACS (Meeting of Agricultural Chief Scientists) 2023, focused on the theme of “Sustainable Agrifood System for Healthy People and Planet.”

G20 Event Schedule

The first day of the G20 summit in Varanasi will include two sessions. The first session “Food Security and Nutrition: Role of Science, Technology, and Innovation,” will address the importance of technology and innovation in ensuring food security and nutrition. The second session, “Resilient Agri-Food System,” will focus on building a robust and sustainable agri-food system. In the evening, G20 delegates will attend the Ganga Aarti at Kashi.

On the second day of the G20 summit in Varanasi, there will be two sessions. The first session will focus on “Digital Agriculture and Sustainable Agri Value Chain,” discussing the role of technology in building a sustainable agricultural value chain. The second session, titled “Public-Private Partnership in Agriculture R&D: Perspective from Developed and Developing Countries,” will explore the benefits and challenges of public-private partnerships in agriculture research and development.

As part of the G20 summit in Varanasi, on the evening of April 18, the guests will visit Sarnath to see the museum and light and sound show. Later, a cultural program and dinner will be held at Buddha Theme Park.

On April 19, there will be a discussion and finalization of the MACS-2023 communique, followed by a visit to the Trade Facilitation Center (TFC) at Bada Lalpur in the afternoon.

The theme of the G20 Indian Presidency is “One Earth, One Family, and One Future,” which aims to promote the values of togetherness and harmony among nations, ensuring a bright future for the world.
