Oppo has launched its mid-range smartphone in India named Oppo A83 featuring 18:9 display. The smartphone was first launched in China last year in December. Oppo has also launched two new smartphones in Taiwan at the same time last year named Oppo A75 and Oppo A75s featuring 18:9 display.

Leaving all that behind, Oppo A83 in India has been priced at Rs. 13,990 and will be available to buy starting January 20 via Amazon and Flipkart. You can also buy the smartphone offline by visiting authorized retail outlets located across the country. The company is offering the device in two color options- Champagne Gold and Black.

The smartphone sports thin bezels and a curved surface for better grip and comfort. It features 5.7-inch HD+ LCD display with a resolution of 720×1440 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a 2.5GHz MediaTek MT6763T octa-core processor paired with ARM Mali G71 MP2 770MHz and 4GB of RAM. The device comes with 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded further up to 256GB via MicroSD card.

Oppo A83 sports 13MP rear autofocus camera paired with an LED flash and supports Ulta HD mode that takes multiple shots to create a 50MP photo automatically. On the other hand, the smartphone sports 8MP selfie camera paired with AI-powered facial feature optimization technology that accentuates your facial landmarks and enhances the symmetry of your facial features like eyes, nose, cheekbones, and jawline using more than 200 positioning spots.

The smartphone sports fingerprint sensor on the rear side and also supports Oppo AI Face recognition. You can either use your fingers or your face to unlock the smartphone. Oppo claims that its facial recognition technology uses 128 unique facial features points to recognize the owner and can unlock the device within 0.18 seconds. We recommend you to use fingerprint or other traditional device unlocking methods because facial recognition is less secure in comparison. The device runs Color OS 3.2 based on Android 7.1 Nougat and packs features like O-Share which is claimed to be faster in transferring files than Bluetooth (6-7 photos in a second to be exact) but works only with Oppo phones.

It’s a dual-SIM smartphone that comes with a dedicated slot for MicroSD card and packs 3180mAh non-removable battery. Connectivity options on board Oppo A83 include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, Micro USB port, and 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on the smartphone include proximity, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and magnetometer.
