Oppo announces Oppo A5 smartphone in China featuring 19:9 display with a notch up top housing the selfie camera, ambient light sensor, and earpiece speaker while the diamond-patterned back panel is designed using a nano-scale microcrystalline technology producing a “dazzling illusion texture.”
It has been priced at CNY 1500 (approx $225 or Rs. 15,530) and will be made available in Mirror Blue and Mirror Pink color options. The smartphone is up for pre-orders and will start shipping starting July 13. As of now, there are no words on its availability in India and other international markets.
Coming to the specifications, Oppo A5 sports 6.2-inch HD+ (720×1520 pixels) IPS LCD display having an aspect ratio of 19:9 and 87.8 percent screen to body ratio. The device is powered by a 64-bit 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core 450 SoC paired with Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB of internal storage expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.
The smartphone features a 13MP (autofocus) + 2MP (depth sensor) dual rear camera setup with f/2.2 + f/2.4 aperture. The setup comes paired with an LED flash and offers features like panorama, HDR, face detection, portrait, and time-lapse photography. The notch on the front panel houses an 8MP (f/2.2 aperture) selfie camera that comes paired with AI-based beautification algorithm which smartly selects the best beauty filter from 8 million filters and recognizes up to 296 facial features. There is no fingerprint sensor on the smartphone, don’t worry, you can secure the phone using face unlock and other traditional phone unlocking methods.
Oppo A5 runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.1 and packs massive 4230mAh battery that delivers 14 hours of video playback and up to 11 hours of gaming. It comes integrated with Smart Voice Assistant that allows you to send messages, listen/ control music, scan QR codes, check best routes, and much more using your voice. It also packs features like smart unlock, smart driving mode, and game acceleration which boosts phone’s performance to deliver a smooth gaming experience.
It’s a dual SIM (Nano) smartphone that supports hybrid configuration meaning Nano SIM + Nano SIM OR Nano SIM + microSD card. Connectivity options onboard Oppo A5 include LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, FM Radio, micro USB 2.0 port, and 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on the smartphone include proximity, ambient light, accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer.
