Samsung has launched a mid-range smartphone in India to take on its competitors such as Xiaomi, Asus, and Honor who have taken over the mid-range smartphone market in the country. The phone is named Samsung Galaxy On6 and comes at a discounted price of Rs. 14,490.
It will be available to buy online via Flipkart and Samsung Online Shop exclusively starting July 5 in Blue and Black color options. Launch offers include No cost EMI from Rs. 1610 per month, exchange offers, complete mobile protection at a discounted rate of Rs. 49, and if you are a Jio customer then you are eligible to receive Rs. 2,750 cashback into your MyJio account when you recharge with Rs. 198 or Rs. 299 prepaid packs. The cashback will be in the form of vouchers worth Rs. 50 each.
Coming to the specifications, the smartphone sports 5.6-inch HD+ (720×1480 pixels) sAMOLED Infinity display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The Infinity design on the Galaxy On6 gives users nearly 15% more display area without increasing the overall size of the device. It is powered by a 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 processor paired with ARM Mali T830 MP1 GPU and 4GB of RAM. On6 comes with 64GB of internal storage expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.
In terms of camera, Galaxy On6 features 13MP rear autofocus sensor with f/1.9 aperture and offers features such as HDR, panorama, face detection, Beauty Face, Animated GIF, and LED flash. On the other hand, the front side packs 8MP selfie sensor with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash in order to offer better low light photography experience.
Samsung Galaxy On6 runs Android 8.0 Oreo-based Samsung Experience UX that offers a Chat Over Video feature allowing users to chat with friends and family while watching the video running in the background. Samsung made it possible by making the chat screen and the keyboard translucent that offers a see-through to the video (refer to the image above). “This new innovation eradicates the consumer pain point of chat interruptions while viewing content on their mobile devices,” said the company. Other pre-loaded apps include Samsung Pay Mini, Samsung’s mobile payment platform that offers bill payments and money transfer using UPI, and My Galaxy Video that offer users access to curated playlists, original shows, and Bollywood movies from a list of content providers.
It’s a dual SIM (Nano) smartphone that comes packed with a 3000mAh battery and there is also a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel below the camera module. Connectivity options onboard Samsung Galaxy On6 include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ GLONASS/ A-GPS, FM Radio, micro USB 2.0 port, and 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on the smartphone include proximity and accelerometer.
A Samsung phone with 4GB RAM, octa-core Exynos 7870 processor, and 18.5:9 sAMOLED Infinity display at this price is a great deal for both Samsung lovers and non-lovers.
