Samsung has quietly launched an updated version of its mid-range Galaxy J7 Prime smartphone in India called Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime 2 that also supports both Samsung Mall and Samsung Pay Mini. It has been priced at Rs. 13,990 and is available to buy via Samsung India online store and authorized offline retail stores located across the country in Black and Gold color options.
In case you are not familiar, Samsung Pay Mini is Samsung’s mobile payment platform that allows you to make payments while the Samsung Mall is a platform where you could explore shopping products by capturing (using the camera) a thing you would like to buy. Samsung has partnered with Amazon, Jabong, ShopClues and Tata CliQ to serve you a list of products related to what you have visual-searched, from their catalog. It also features Universal Cart which allows you to check/edit/purchase across above mentioned online shopping platforms from Samsung Mall’s all-in-one cart.
Coming to the specifications, the smartphone sports metal unibody with 5.5-inch FHD (1080×1920 pixels) PLS 16:9 display (401ppi pixel density) and on top, there is 2.5D Gorilla glass. It is powered by a 1.6GHz Samsung Exynos 7870 octa-core SoC paired with Mali-T830 GPU and 3GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB of internal storage expandable up to 256GB via MicroSD card.
In terms of camera, Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime 2 features a 13MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture, autofocus, and LED flash while on the front side, it sports 13MP selfie camera with f/1.9 aperture. Both cameras are capable of recording 1080p video at 30fps and are optimized for low-light photography.
There is also a fingerprint sensor on the smartphone, mounted on the rear panel. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and packs Social Camera, a feature that let users click, edit and share photos instantly. The Social Camera packs live stickers, live filters, and instant editing feature, allowing users to edit the shot while capturing it.
It’s a dual SIM (Nano SIM) smartphone that comes packed with 3300mAh non-removable battery. Connectivity options onboard the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime 2 include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS/ GLONASS/ BEIDOU, ANT+, 3.5mm audio jack, and micro USB 2.0 port. Sensors on the smartphone include proximity and accelerometer apart from fingerprint sensor.
