Xiaomi launches an all-new Redmi Note 7 variant called Redmi Note 7S priced below the top model i.e. Redmi Note 7 Pro. The smartphone features 48MP dual rear camera setup and on the front is the dot notch display housing the selfie sensor.
The smartphone is set to go on sale via Flipkart, Mi store, Mi Home stores May 23 onwards. The phone has been priced at Rs.10,999 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage variant while the 4GB/ 64GB variant comes with a price tag of Rs. 12,999. Color options include Onyx Black, Ruby Red, and Sapphire Blue. Head over to Xiaomi authorized retail stores and Mi Studio to grab one on May 24.
The third model in the Redmi Note 7 series also comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and back. It also features P2i‘s splash-proof nano-coating technology developed to protect the phone from humidity and common water damage.
The smartphone sports a 6.3-inch FHD+ (1080×2340 pixels) dot notch display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 409ppi pixel density, 450 nit brightness, and 84% NTSC color gamut. The device supports four display modes- night, reading, sunlight and standard. Powering up the phone is the 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE octa-core (4×2.2GHz Kryo 260 and 4×1.8GHz Kryo 260) SoC paired with Adreno 512 GPU and up to 4GB LPDDR4X RAM. It offers up to 64GB of eMMC 5.1 flash storage expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.
In terms of optics, the device packs 48MP + 5MP AI-powered dual rear camera setup with 4-in-1 Super Pixel (pixel binning technology that combines information captured by four pixels into one), f/1.8 aperture, PDAF (phase detection autofocus), AI portrait mode, panorama mode, face recognition, HDR, low light enhancement, bokeh effect adjustment, and AI scene detection (33 scenes). Note 7S also include 13MP (1.12μm pixel, f/2.0 aperture) front sensor with AI portrait mode, AI beautify, face recognition, HDR, selfie timer, and AI scene detection (12 scenes). It also supports video EIS (electronic image stabilization) which minimizes blurring and compensates for device shakes while capturing videos and 120fps slow-motion video recording
Redmi Note 7S mounts fingerprint sensor on the rear panel just like other variants and supports AI-powered Face Unlock. It runs Android 9.0 Pie-based MIUI 10 and the IR blaster lets you convert your mobile into a remote to control the home appliances.
The SIM card tray accepts up to two Nano SIMs in hybrid setup i.e. Nano + Nano SIM or Nano SIM + microSD card. The smartphone packs 4000mAh battery and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4 fast charging technology. Connectivity options onboard Redmi Note 7S include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0, FM Radio, GPS/ A-GPS/ GLONASS/ BDS, Infrared port, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on the smartphone include proximity, accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light, and magnetometer.
