Huawei Nova 5T sporting hole-punch display, quad rear cameras launched

Huawei Nova 5T, launched by the name of Honor 20 in other global smartphone markets, has been launched by Huawei at an event in Malaysia. Comparing it to Honor 20, the smartphone carries the same design and looks and also the specifications.

The only thing that’s different from Honor 20 is increased RAM which is set to 8GB and it’s the only variant launched in the country, paired with 128GB of internal storage. Head over to company’s online store or 3ex.com.my to pre-order/order the phone on August 29 and onwards at MYR 1,599 (approx Rs. 27,220 or $380). You are eligible to avail free gifts such as Huawei mini Bluetooth speaker and Huawei SuperCharge car charger if pre-ordered from Huawei’s store (visit the store for more info and terms and conditions).

The smartphone sports hole-punched selfie camera and is being offered in three color options- Midsummer Purple, Crush Blue, and Black. Huawei will start shipping Huawei Nova 5T from September 7.

It sports 6.26-inch FHD+ (2340×1080 pixels) Full-View IPS LCD display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 418 ppi pixel density and 91.7 percent screen to body ratio. Powering up the phone is the 7nm Kirin 980 AI octa-core (2×2.6 GHz and 2×1.92 GHz Cortex-A76 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A55) chipset with dual NPU, claimed to be the world’s first 7nm processor, paired with Mali-G76 MP10 GPU and 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. The phone doesn’t have a MicroSD slot to support the expansion of storage.

In terms of optics, it packs quad rear camera setup backed by AI (artificial intelligence) features- 48MP primary Sony IMX586 camera (large 1/2″ sensor) with f/1.8 aperture, 4-in-1 light fusion (based on pixel binning technique), AI ultra clarity mode, AI image stabilization (AIS), AIS super night mode + 16MP super wide-angle camera with 117-degree wide-angle lens, f/2.2 aperture + 2MP depth assist camera with f/2.4 aperture and is used to produce bokeh effect + 2MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture that supports 4cm macro photography allowing you to capture close-up shots from 4cm away. The phone can shoot slow-motion videos at 960fps in 720p.

On the front is the 32MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and supports 3D portrait lighting allowing you to capture portraits in low lights or no lights. It also supports 4-in-1 pixel binning technology to combine four pixels into one larger pixel for clearer and brighter selfies and is backed by AI features such as AI beautify and AI portrait modes.

Huawei Nova 5T runs EMUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie and promises no-lag gaming experience (limited to some games) with its graphics processing technology called GPU Turbo 3.0. Nova 5T also supports virtual 9.1 surround sound technology that surrounds you from all-around when you listen to music.

It accepts two Nano SIMs and packs 3,750mAh battery that supports 22.5W Huawei SuperCharge technology which fuels up the phone’s battery up to 50 percent in just 30 minutes. Connectivity options on the Huawei Nova 5T include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS/Beidou/Galileo/QZSS, and USB Type-C. Sensors include fingerprint sensor (side-mounted), proximity, magnetometer, accelerometer, ambient light, and gyroscope.
