Sony has introduced three new smartphones at CES 2018 which includes Sony Xperia XA2, Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra, and Sony Xperia L2. In this article, we will be discussing Sony’s XA2 smartphones, we have a separate article for Xperia L2. XA2 smartphones are the successors to XA1 smartphones that were launched last year.
All the smartphones including Xperia L2 are up for pre-order in the United States. You can head over to Best Buy to pre-order the device you want. Sony Xperia XA2 has been priced at $349.99 while the Xperia XA2 Ultra retails at $449.99. On the other hand, Xperia L2 comes with a price tag of $249.99. All the smartphones are listed on Best Buy as Unlocked devices. Xperia XA2 is available to pre-order in Black, Blue, Pink, and Silver color options while XA2 Ultra comes in Black, Blue, Gold, and Silver color options. On the other hand, Xperia L2 can be pre-ordered in Black, Gold, and Pink color options and will go sale later this month.
Let’s first discuss what’s common- Both the devices comes packed with features like SmartAmp, Clear Audio+, and Qualcomm’s aptX HD audio and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo. Both sports loop surface design comprising of anodized aluminum sides and a diamond-cut finish on the top and bottom. Previous Sony models packed the fingerprint sensor inside the side-located power button but this time with XA2 smartphones, the company has tried to catch on with the world by placing the fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.
Both Sony smartphones are powered by a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core 630 SoC and sports 23MP Exmor RS camera sensor with 1/2.3-inch pixel size, wide-angle lens, f/2.0 aperture, hybrid autofocus, LED flash and support 4K video recording, slow-motion video recording at 120fps, and Sony’s SteadyShot functionality.
Xperia XA2 sports 5.2-inch FHD (1920×1080 pixels) display that comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass while the Xperia XA2 Ultra features large 6-inch FHD (1920×1080 pixels) display and on top of it is the Corning Gorilla Glass. It is powered by Snapdragon 630 Soc paired with 3GB of RAM while the Ultra variant comes paired with 4GB of RAM. Both smartphones packs 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded further up to 256GB via MicroSD card.
Sony Xperia XA2 features single 8MP 1/4-inch Exmor R front sensor with 120-degree wide-angle lens, and f/2.4 aperture while the XA2 Ultra sports dual front camera setup consisting of one 16MP (1/2.6-inch) Exmor RS sensor with OIS (optical image stabilization), 88-degrees field of view, f/2.0 aperture, and supports ISO 6400 sensitivity & one 8MP sensor with 120-degree super wide-angle lens, f/2.0 aperture, and supports ISO 3200 sensitivity.
Both support single-SIM or dual-SIM hybrid configuration (depending on the regions). Xperia XA2 packs 3300mAh battery while Xperia XA2 Ultra packs 3580mAh battery and both support Sony’s Smart Stamina Mode, Qnovo Adaptive Charging and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technologies. Connectivity options onboard both smartphones include 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth v5.0, FM Radio, NFC, GPS/A-GPS, and USB Type-C port. Sensors on the smartphones include proximity, accelerometer, ambient light, magnetometer, and gyroscope.
