Meizu M8c budget-smartphone launched in Russia

Meizu has announced a budget smartphone for Russian smartphone market called Meizu M8c, featuring 18:9 display ratio. The smartphone has been priced at RUB 9,990 (approx. Rs. 10,800) and is up for pre-orders via Pixelphone. It will start shipping sometime next month in Gold, Blue, Black, and Red color options.

The smartphone sports 5.45-inch HD+ (1440×720 pixels) IPS LCD display with 18:9 display ratio, a pixel density of 295ppi, and on top of it is the 2.5D curved glass. It is powered by a 64-bit 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core 425 SoC paired with Adreno 308 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB of internal storage expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. You can use Google Photos to store all your photos and videos there so that you don’t run out of space.

Meizu M8c features a single 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, 5-element lens, PDAF (phase detection autofocus), panorama, and dual-tone LED flash. The rear camera comes integrated with Arcsoft photo editing algorithm that enhances each of your photos. On the front, the smartphone features 8MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture, 4-element lens, Beautify mode, and there is also Arcsoft photo enhancement algorithm that lets you edit photos as per your need.

The device runs Android 7.0 Nougat-based Flyme 7 UI that includes features such as facial recognition tech, AI beautification (built right into the camera), Night mode, Game mode, Data Rescue (data recovering feature), and more. The UI was recently unveiled at the launch of company’s Meizu 15 flagship range of smartphones.

It’s a dual SIM hybrid smartphone that comes packed with 3070mAh battery and supports Quick Charge fast charging tech. Connectivity options onboard Meizu M8c include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, FM Radio, micro USB port, and 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on the smartphone include proximity, accelerometer, and ambient light.

The smartphone sports compact design and weighs 140 grams. The back panel is built using polycarbonate plastic which is a high-performance (tough and stable), lightweight plastic. Meizu claims that M8c is the first smartphone to use polycarbonate with an innovative coating. It is not yet revealed if the company is planning to bring M8c to other markets.
