Vivo on Friday launched a newer Y91 variant called Vivo Y91i in India at a starting price of Rs. 7,990. The smartphone is available to purchase via authorized offline retail outlets across the country.
The smartphone is being offered in two storage options- 16GB and 32GB. The 16GB model has been priced at Rs. 7,990 while the 32GB variant bears a price tag of Rs. 8,490. The company has made the smartphone available in two color options- Fusion Black, Sunset Red and Ocean Blue.
On the other hand, Vivo Y91 was launched in India earlier this year and the only 2GB/32GB storage variant currently retails at Rs. 9,990 on Flipkart. Both phones pack similar specifications except for the rear camera and added lower internal storage variant. Vivo Y91 comes with dual rear camera setup while the Y91i sports a single rear sensor. The smartphone sports 6.22-inch HD+ (1520×720 pixels) IPS LCD Halo FullView display with 19:9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 270ppi. It is powered by a 2.0GHz Mediatek MTK6762R Helio P22 (12nm) octa-core processor paired with PowerVR GE8320 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It comes in two storage options, as mentioned above, which can be expanded further up to 256GB via microSD card.
Y91i features a single 13MP rear camera sensor with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF (phase detection autofocus) and comes paired with an LED flash. On the front side, the smartphone features an 8MP selfie sensor with f/1.8 aperture lens. The front camera comes paired with AI Face Beauty beautification algorithm that automatically delivers facial enhancements and detects gender, age, skin tone, skin texture, and lighting environment. Other features include Timelapse, Palm Capture, and Voice Control.
It runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS 4.5. The company has not provided fingerprint sensor with Y91i and if it is something you want then go with Vivo Y91 which mounts the fingerprint sensor on the rear panel. However, the phone supports Face Unlock tech.
